KF2 Weapon Skin Tutorial : Pattern Based
Step-by-step guide
- Follow the steps here to get your material initialized. KF2 Weapon Skin Creation: Getting Started
- Open your material and set the Switch_UsePattern to true (must be checked on the right and left check boxes.
- Author a new Pattern Mask Texture and set it to the PatternMask parameter
- Adjust Color, PaintArea, PaintSpecular/Gloss and PatternArea parameters to achieve the look of your pattern skin.
- Adjust PatternScale, Rotation and Offset parameters to further achieve the look of your skin.
- If you want to base your pattern of the weapon's original Uv's you may not want to offset, scale or rotate your pattern. You can get original weapon Uv templates here: KF2 Weapon UV Template Download
- Optionally set the switch Switch_UseAnodizedEffect if you want an anodized metal look
- Optionally select Switch_PatternTriPlanarUvs if you want a spraypainted stencil look.
- Set your wear parameters to add some battle wear to your weapon.
- Optionally select Switch_WearLikeSprayPaint if you want a spraypainted worn look.
- Optionally select Switch_UsePatternAlphaGloss if your pattern has a grey scale alpha to serve as a specular exponent (gloss) map.
- Here is an example of a pattern texture and a quick pattern based skin.
